On first listen this album isn't bad at all. Dylan's voice is better than for some time and the songs are less corny than some of his recent self-penned efforts. Its certainly better than Christmas in the Heart.

I am surprised at how halfway decent the vocals were... many modern vocalists are completely lost in the older tunes... (See all of Rod Stewart's awful "American Songbook" albums)... but this still is a mediocre album
